Unfortunately.
The mantra for tax policy has been tax the rich; make sure they pay their fair share, This class warfare has been going on too long. Why do we disparage those who make more than us?
Covetousness, is what class warfare appears to. This is one of our basest emotions. "Thou shall not covet..." Shame on those that play to our base selves.
But it works. Just look at a recent Rasmussen poll. 65% Say Middle Class Pays Bigger Share of Income In Taxes Than Wealthy. view results
What a misconception. The reality is the 2007 numbers, the latest available, show that the top 1 percent’s income and tax shares reached all-time highs for the third year in a row paying 40.42% of taxes. Further, The top-earning 25 percent of taxpayers (AGI over $66,532) paid more than four out of every five dollars collected by the federal income tax (86.6 percent). Whereas, the bottom 50% of taxpayers pay 2.89% of all taxes. view data
We need to be told the truth. Stop the demagoguery. Quit promoting covetousness!!

Job Killing Legislation
Several corporations have announce charges to their earnings due to changes precipitated by health care reform.
AT&T Inc. will take a $1 billion non-cash accounting charge in the first quarter because of the health care overhaul and may cut benefits it offers to current and retired workers.
AK Steel Corp., Caterpillar Inc., Deere & Co. and Valero Energy announced similar accounting charges, saying the health care law that President Barack Obama signed Tuesday will raise their expenses. On Friday, 3M Co. said it will also take a charge of $85 million to $90 million.
When job creation should be our primary focus, this administration has focused on job killing legistation.
